History of Adidas Samba

The Adidas Samba shoe has been around since 1950 when it was designed specifically to help soccer players train on hard or icy ground. The suction on the gumsole provided this unique ability and they quickly became very popular. Their continued use for soccer players through to this date makes them the second most popular line of Adidas shoes ever.

In addition to sports players, the Adidas Samba has also become popular as a fashion sneaker worn by millions for casual comfort. Over 35 million pairs of this series have been sold which is an impressive number for any type of shoe.

After years of success with the traditional Sambas Adidas developed other versions of the shoe including the Adidas Samba 85 and the Adidas Samba Millennium.

While there were some clear differences with each version, they all retained much of the classic look and feel which people have grown to love. Their continued popularity, many feel, has to do with their great looks and versatility.

Unlike many other sports shoes, these can be worn on and off the field with equal comfort.

The Adidas Samba also has an impressive history of being worn by celebrities in movies or television shows. The Adidas Samba K version was worn in the movie "You, Me and Dupree" by Owen Wilson. The Samba K is a version of the classic shoe but made with kangaroo leather. In "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" the main character, Sam Witwicky, played by Shia LaBeouf wears them throughout the movie. The use of these classic shoes in movies is not just a new trend either, as far back as the 1984 film "Beverly Hills Cop" where Eddie Murphy wore them.

There are many other great examples of this shoe making a show in different movies, television shows and even musical performances.

The Adidas Samba is among the oldest running show style and it shows no sign of slowing down. The shoe is still extremely popular for soccer players around the world and it is only getting more and more popular for off the field use.

The history, however, is not the only reason this shoe remains popular. Adidas puts a lot of research and development into each version of the shoe to make sure they all are extremely comfortable, functional and long lasting.

When looking for shoes many people turn first to this great style because it truly brings in the best of both the old and new. Adidas has done an extraordinary job at keeping the shoe true to its history while incorporating many of the latest trends in the shoe as well.

The shoes come in a wide range of colors which makes them a popular choice for entire soccer teams to choose the same color. The black with three white stripes remains the most popular as it was the original and is seen as the quintessential classic soccer shoe.
